The Madrid Marathon, celebrating its 48th edition this year, will bring together 47,000 runners from around the world ā a record figure ā on a beautiful and challenging course through the Spanish capital.
Madrid Marathon 2026 is not just any race: the Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series offers a route through Madrid’s most historic monuments and main avenues. With three distances – Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K – the Zurich Madrid Marathon ensures that everyone can join in the fun. Thousands of spectators are expected to flood the streets on race day, creating a festive atmosphere to give participants an extra push towards the finish line.

All about the Madrid Marathon
Officially known as the Zurich Rock ‘n’ Roll Running Series, the marathon in Madrid is more than just a race: it’s a chance to experience the city while running, whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a beginner.
Each year, around 10,000 international runners from 110 countries take part, making it one of the most global marathons. This unique event combines music and running, with over 30 entertainment stages and stations along the course, creating an electrifying atmosphere.
The event features three races on the same day: the full Madrid Marathon (42K), the Madrid Half Marathon (21K), and the 10K race, offering options for all levels of runners.
Madrid Marathon Date
The date of the Madrid Marathon is set for April 26, 2025. So you have plenty of time to train and get in shape.
The start time is 8:45 a.m. for both the Madrid Half Marathon and the 42K Marathon.
The 10k runners will be starting a bit earlier, at 8:00 a.m.
Marathon runners have up to six hours to complete their race, while half marathon runners have three hours. If you participate in the 10K race, you will have one hour and thirty minutes to cross the finish line.
Madrid Marathon Course
The Madrid Marathon series offers runners an unparalleled opportunity to explore the city’s beautiful landmarks while pushing their limits.
The race start line is located on Paseo de la Castellana (Plaza del Doctor Marañón), in the heart of Madrid. As you run down the street, you will see historic buildings and tourist attractions such as the famous Puerta del Sol, the Plaza de España, the Royal Palace, the Almudena Cathedral, or the famous Prado Museum.
The finish line will be at Paseo de Recoletos, located between Plaza de Cibeles and Plaza de Colón. This iconic location is the perfect culmination for such an epic race, with cheering crowds and stunning architecture as a backdrop.
The best method to get to the Madrid Marathon is public transportation. You can use metro lines 7 and 10 to Gregorio Marañón station, or line 5 to RubĆ©n DarĆo station.

Register for the Madrid Marathon & Half Marathon

Race bib and runner pack collection will take place at the Runnerās Expo at IFEMA on Friday 24 April and Saturday 25 April, from 10:00 to 20:00. The runner pack includes the official race T-shirt, the race bib, and a goodie bag.
The Madrid Marathon registration fee is tiered, ranging from ā¬65 for early registrations to ā¬95 for late entries. There is also a promotion that allows you to obtain a race bib directly when purchasing a pair of Adidas running shoes.
