Madrid Book Fair

The Madrid Book Fair is one of the biggest cultural events in the city. This books fair, which is held every year in the spring in the wonderful Retiro Park, is a paradise for literature and book lovers.

Since its first edition in 1933, the Madrid Book Fair aims to promote reading and all activities related to books such as publishing, distribution, and sales. It is an excuse to buy those books you have on your reading list, discover new authors or get a signature from your favourites, as well as giving your loved ones a literary treat.

When is the Madrid Book Fair?

The Madrid Book Fair is celebrating its 83rd edition this year. The event will take place between Friday 31 May and Sunday 16 June 2024.

It will be two whole weeks of book stands and activities, which this year will be especially dedicated to sport on the occasion of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

Madrid Book Fair 2024 Schedule

You can visit the Madrid Book Fair during the following opening hours:

• • Monday to Thursday: 10:30 am to 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

• • Saturdays and Sundays: 10:30 am to 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

On 7 June, there will be a special schedule and the fair will remain open until 11:30 pm.

Signings at the Madrid Book Fair

The Madrid Book Fair will be made up of more than 350 bookshops and publishers’ stands. The Madrid Book Fair sells books in any format (paper, digital, audio), except for old books, antiquarian books, second-hand books, textbooks and other commercial products.

As always, parallel to the stands there will be all kinds of activities such as book presentations, readings, concerts, conferences, children’s workshops, and storytelling for the little ones.

The star of the Fair will be, as always, the book signings offered by top authors. All the signings at the Madrid Book Fair are free and there may be a long wait in the queue, but it’s worth it!

How to get to the Madrid Book Fair

You can get to the Madrid Book Fair in the Retiro Park very easily from anywhere in the centre of the Spanish capital.
